The best things in life aren’t things — they’re family

At Nationwide Private Client, we insure your possessions, and we also provide coverage to help make sure your family is protected beyond the usual coverages.

Owning multiple homes, motor vehicles and watercrafts; having a swimming pool; employing domestic staff — these are a few of the factors that increase liability risk. And the greater the wealth, the greater the likelihood of being targeted with a lawsuit.

Many affluent families are turning to family trusts to help preserve their assets. Not all homeowners insurance policies provide proper protection for trusts. Nationwide Private Client provides coverage for trusts and LLCs via the following:

  • A protection endorsement, which treats the trust or LLC as an insured
  • Listing the trust or LLC as an “additional insured” endorsement

This allows for proper global coverage for the insured and location-centric coverage for the trust or LLC.

How Nationwide Private Client responds

With Nationwide Private Client, affluent individuals and their family members are protected when a covered loss occurs.

Your spouse is taking a prescription painkiller after surgery and hits a pedestrian while driving. Up to $250,000 in crisis management coverage is included in our personal excess policy with the protection endorsement. This coverage helps mitigate potential damage or injury to your spouse’s reputation caused by a covered cause of loss.
You are in an accident that leaves you confined to a wheelchair. Up to $5 million in uninsured and underinsured liability coverage is available in our personal excess policy. This coverage offers you additional protection in the event you are involved in an accident with an uninsured or underinsured at-fault driver or negligent third party.
Up to $100,000 in disability alterations coverage is available in our personal homeowners policy with protection endorsement. This pays to update the residence premises to meet minimum standards for disability, allowing for the installation of wheelchair ramps, widening hallways, updating bathrooms, etc.1
Your mother has to be moved to an assisted living facility. Assisted living care coverage is optional coverage under our homeowners policy that extends personal property and liability coverage to nonhousehold members related by blood, marriage or adoption in an assisted living facility.
Your 19-year-old son, a part-time student, is living off-campus when a guest in his rental home falls down the stairs, breaking a bone and requiring surgery. With our optional extended student endorsement, liability coverage extends to part-time students.
You are kidnapped while on vacation out of the country. Up to $25,000 in kidnap expense coverage, or $100,000 in some states, is available in our personal homeowners policy with the protection endorsement. It reimburses many expenses related to the kidnapping of an insured, including, but not limited to, hostage negotiator fees, attorney fees, lost income, travel, lodging costs and telephone costs.
Your home is burglarized and you feel unsafe and anxious in there. With our personal homeowners protection endorsement, up to $25,000 (or $50,000 in some states) is available in family safety coverage for counseling services to help you or your family after a loss.

Preserving assets is one thing, but making sure your family is protected when the unexpected happens is imperative. Unlikely events can happen at any time.
