Getting started selling Nationwide annuities
Discover step-by-step instructions to make it easier to start doing business with Nationwide®.
1. Get appointed
Before you can submit annuity business with us, you’ll need to get appointed. When you’re appointed with Nationwide®, you can:
- Create an online profile to access client accounts
- Utilize tools and resources to help build your business and service your existing business
- Get product and investment performance information
- Discover tips and tools that make it easier for you to help your clients prepare for and live in retirement
2. Create an online account
Work faster, smarter and more productively by setting up an online account with Nationwide. Our mobile-friendly platform gives you access to your clients’ account so you can manage details, initiate trades, rebalance investments, track performance, see the status of your pending business and more. You can also set up a designee to help manage these tasks.
3. Meet licensing and training requirements
Make sure you meet all of the licensing and training requirements, including:
- Have an active insurance license and appointments with appropriate business lines of authority with Nationwide where the business is being conducted
- Complete product-specific training
- Complete state-required annuity training. NOTE: If you complete training in any of the following states, you’ll satisfy the training requirement for all of the listed states: AL, AK, AZ, CO, CT, DC, DE, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MI, MN, MS, MT, MO, NE, NH, NJ, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV, WI and WY
- Check for any education required by your firm (e.g., does your firm require any presale training outside of what is listed above?)

Licensing Dashboard
Use the online dashboard to manage your licensing details, product training and continuing education with Nationwide. After creating an account, simply log in to access the Nationwide Licensing Dashboard. Use the drop-downs to select the state, line of business and the product you want to review.

4. Find and schedule time with your Nationwide annuity wholesaler
