We focus on delivering next-generation experiences for Nationwide’s customers by exploring leading-edge topics from analytics and automation technology to new insurance and financial services platforms.

Amelia

Gandara

Amelia joins Nationwide’s ventures team having been an early member of two corporate innovations teams within GE where she contributed to product development efforts ranging from novel home appliances to industrial inspection technologies. She also managed an evergreen startup seed fund in Louisville, Kentucky. She is a former professional ballerina and actively serves on various boards in support of dance and visual art in the region. Amelia earned her BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering.

Brian joined the corporate venture capital group at Nationwide having spent his professional career focused on technology, strategy, and finance. Most recently he worked in early-stage venture capital as an Associate and Venture Fellow helping entrepreneurs with product development, business strategy, hiring, and sales. Brian grew up in Philadelphia and is interested in art, design, fly fishing, and reading actual paper books. He earned his MBA from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University and a BA in Economics from Colorado College.

Erik oversees the more than $100m that Nationwide has committed to invest in early stage companies to create strategic insights and accelerate current and future capabilities. He has an eclectic background spanning Fortune 100 companies, early stage technology startups, and the public sector. He was also an executive-in-residence at the MIT Media Lab and has 50 issued patents. Erik earned a BSBA from Bloomsburg University with a minor in Philosophy and a MBA from Penn State University. On the weekends, you’ll find him on the field coaching youth soccer, and he likes to relate nearly any situation to an 80s/90s comedy.

Prior to joining Nationwide Ventures, Jake was an early employee at Avant, a leading FinTech consumer lending platform. While at Avant, Jake led the early development of multiple customer acquisition channels and later helped to launch the Powered by Avant product. Jake began his career as an investment banking analyst in New York City at BMO Capital Markets in the US Debt Capital Markets group. Jake received his BBA in Finance from Villanova University.

Mary came to Nationwide through the company's Finance Leadership Rotation Program, working with the Property and Casualty Direct Channel Finance team, the Marketing Finance group within Enterprise Portfolio Management and Analysis, and Alternative Investments before joining Nationwide Ventures. Mary received her BSBA in Finance from The Ohio State University.
