James H. Stavena

Managing Director, Portfolio Manager

James is a senior portfolio manager. He manages a team of portfolio managers responsible for the implementation of asset allocation strategies including global alpha, domestic, active currency, active commodity, and custom rules-based strategies. James is a key contributor to the development, refinement, and risk management of all asset allocation investment strategies and signals. He has extensive experience and a particular focus on the use of derivatives in quantitative investment strategies, as well as 1940 Act and UCITS III implementations of asset allocation strategies.

James has been in the investment industry since 1991. Prior to joining the firm in 1998, he was a currency options trader with CS First Boston and HSBC in New York and London.

James earned an MBA from Rice University.

Vassilis Dagioglu

Managing Director, Head of Asset Allocation Portfolio Management

Vassilis is the head of the asset allocation portfolio management team. In his current role, he is responsible for managing global tactical asset allocation, strategic asset allocation and multi-asset portfolios including total return, absolute return, multi-asset income, global macro as well as active commodities strategies. Since he joined the company, he has managed several asset allocation portfolios such as mutual funds, hedge funds, and separately managed portfolios and helped develop custom portfolio solutions.

Vassilis joined the firm in 1999, shortly after beginning his career in the investment industry. Prior to that, he designed and implemented financial information systems and consulted on enterprise information application development at IBM Global Services and Sybase.

He earned an MBA in finance from the University of California at Berkeley.

John C. Bailer, CFA

Executive Vice President, Portfolio Manager
Nationwide BNY Mellon Disciplined Value Fund

John is the lead portfolio manager for the dividend-focused Large Cap Value strategies. In this role, he was responsible for creating our Income Stock strategy to meet demand from clients seeking attractively valued higher dividend income while not sacrificing dividend growth. He has managed the team’s dividend strategies since 2005 and is the lead portfolio manager for the Equity Income strategy which emphasizes dividend growth stocks. He is also a senior research analyst on the Dynamic Large Cap Value strategy, responsible for the Consumer, Technology and Communication Services sectors. Previously, John was a senior research analyst on the Large Cap Value team and joined the firm in 1992.

John received a BS in accounting and information management systems, with distinction, from Babson College and an MS in finance from Boston College. John holds the CFA designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston.

Brian C. Ferguson

Executive Vice President, Senior Portfolio Manager
Nationwide BNY Mellon Disciplined Value Fund

Brian is the senior portfolio manager on the Dynamic Large Cap Value Equity strategy, a position he has held since 2003. He is the head of the Large Cap Value team and also the analyst responsible for the Health Care and Financials sectors. Previously, he was a portfolio manager of the firm's Mid Cap Value strategy. Brian joined the firm in 1997 as a research analyst on the Small and Mid Cap Opportunistic Value team.

Before joining the firm, Brian was a research analyst at Wellington Management. Prior to that, he was an assistant director of General Electric Capital Corp.'s corporate treasury group and graduated from GE's Financial Management Program.

Brian received a BA in economics and international relations from Bucknell University and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Columbia Business School.

Keith Howell Jr., CFA

Portfolio Manager, Equity Income team
Nationwide BNY Mellon Disciplined Value Fund

Keith is a member of Newton’s equity income team. In his current role, he is a portfolio manager for the Dynamic Large Cap Value Equity, Income Stock and Equity Income strategies.

Keith joined Newton in September 2021, following the integration of Mellon Investments Corporation’s equity and multi-asset capabilities into the Newton Investment Management Group.

Before joining Newton, Keith was a senior research analyst at Mellon Investments Corporation and The Boston Company Asset Management (both BNY Mellon group companies). Keith began his investment career in 2006 with BNY Mellon and has covered the financials, technology and industrials sectors. Keith earned an AB in Economics from Harvard University. He holds the CFA designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Dimitri Curtil

Managing Director, CIO, Head of Multi-Asset
Nationwide BNY Mellon Dynamic U.S. Core Fund

Dimitri is Mellon’s CIO, Head of Multi-Asset. He oversees the team of portfolio managers and researchers responsible for the firm’s multi-asset strategies. He also leads development and enhancement of the research underpinning the firm’s multi-asset strategies. Dimitri and his team develop tools and models for all asset classes including equities, debt, currency, commodities and volatility. His areas of research include absolute return and total return strategies as well as alternative risk premia and tail risk hedging solutions. Previously, he was head of asset allocation research.

Dimitri has been active in the research field since 1998. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, he worked as a computational systems engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Previously, he was the founder and manager of an engineering consultancy in France. Dimitri earned an MS in computer science from Imperial College in London and an MSc in mechanical engineering from Zurich Federal Institute of Technology.

Torrey Zaches, CFA

Director, Portfolio Manager
Nationwide BNY Mellon Dynamic U.S. Core Fund

Torrey is a portfolio manager. He oversees a team of portfolio managers covering multi-asset strategies with a focus on global total return portfolios. Torrey is responsible for the implementation of these strategies, including strategy refinements, risk management and portfolio management efficiencies.

Prior to joining the firm in 1998, Torrey worked at Mercer Global Advisors providing global asset allocation investment solutions to small businesses and high net worth clients. Torrey has been in the investment industry since 1994.

Torrey earned an MBA from the University of Southern California and a BA in economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He holds the CFA® designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.
