Nominations open for our 2022 Volunteer of the Year Award

Help us celebrate our spirit of volunteerism by nominating a Nationwide associate for the 2022 Volunteer of the Year Award by January 21.

Nominate Our Next Volunteer of the Year

Every day our associates are out there showing we're a company that cares by donating their time and talent to organizations around the country. Last year, Nationwide associates logged hundreds of volunteer hours with nonprofits in their communities and we recognize their commitment with our annual Volunteer of the Year award.

Help us recognize those who go above and beyond by nominating them for the 2022 Nationwide Volunteer of the Year Award. Despite the pandemic, we’ve heard associates continue to volunteer, whether in person or virtual, and it’s all eligible for this year’s award.

Who can nominate?

Those permitted to nominate a Nationwide associate for Volunteer of the Year include:

  • Nationwide associates and board members
  • Nonprofit organizations
  • Local communities
  • Service recipients

Who qualifies?

Any associate employed at Nationwide at the time of the Volunteer of the Year ceremony in April is eligible. (Office of Corporate Citizenship associates and their immediate family members are excluded.) Other qualifications include:

  • Those who volunteer for a tax-deductible nonprofit organization that serves the greater community except the following
    • Places of worship/religious organizations
    • Political organizations
    • Fraternal organizations: 501(c)(8) and 501(c)(10)
    • Social clubs: 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(7)
    • Organizations that in their constitution discriminate against a person or group based on race, color, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, disability, genetic information, religion, national origin, ancestry, veteran status, marital status or any other characteristic protected by law
  • Nominees who don’t receive compensation for their work (pay, bonuses or fees)
  • Nominees who aren’t currently serving as the executive director of a nonprofit organization 

A Volunteer of the Year earns:

  • A $5,000 grant for the organization where he/she volunteers
  • Two days of paid time off

An honoree earns:

  • A $1,000 grant for the organization where he/she volunteers
  • One day of paid time off

More about submitting nominations

Please complete and submit the electronic nomination form. No attachments or additional mailings will be considered in the judging process. Nominations received after the deadline won’t be accepted.

Nominations are due January 21, 2022.

Associates nominated for this year’s award will hear from the Office of Corporate Citizenship in early March if they are selected as honorees.
