    Strategy overview

    The Nationwide Small-Cap Index Fund employs a “passive” management, or indexing, approach, which seeks to match approximately the performance of the Russell 2000® Index before the deduction of Fund expenses. The Russell 2000 Index is composed of the 1,001st through 3,000th largest U.S. companies by market capitalization, as determined by the Frank Russell Company. The Russell 2000 Index represents stocks issued by smaller U.S. companies in a wide range of businesses.

    Important disclosure

    The expense ratios are as of the most recent prospectus. The difference between gross and net operating expenses reflects contractual fee waivers in place through March 2, 2027.

    The Nationwide Mutual Funds and NFA entered into a written contract limiting annual fund operating expenses to 0.28% until at least March 2, 2027. Under the agreement, the expense cap applies to all share classes (excluding 12b-1 fees). Please see the Fund's prospectus for more details.

    The Fund seeks to match the performance of an index. Correlation between Fund performance and index performance may be affected by Fund expenses, index composition changes, and the timing of Fund share purchases and redemptions. The Fund is subject to the risks of investing in equity securities (including small companies). Smaller companies are usually less stable in price and less liquid than larger, more established companies. Smaller companies are more vulnerable than larger companies to adverse business and economic developments and may have more limited resources. Therefore, they generally involve greater risk. The Fund may concentrate on specific sectors, subjecting it to greater volatility than other mutual funds. The Fund may hold stocks for longer-than-average periods, subjecting it to short-term volatility. The Fund may become non-diversified as a result of a change in relative market capitalization or index weighting of one or more constituents in the Russell 2000® Index, the Index the Fund is seeking to match.
