How to report fraud or a scam

Cybercriminals often use fraud and scams to impersonate trusted companies, including Nationwide®, to trick you into sharing information or clicking malicious links.

We may contact you by phone, email or text to share information about your policies, accounts or plans.

We will never:

  • Ask for your password, verification code or full Social Security number in an email or text message
  • Urgently demand payment or threaten to close your account
  • Ask you to click a suspicious link or download an attachment to verify your information

If you receive a suspicious email, letter, phone call, text message or website that appears to be from Nationwide, don’t engage. To protect yourself, do not click links, download attachments or respond to the message.

Instead:

  1. Capture a few details to help us investigate:
    • Date and time received
    • Phone number or sender
    • Screenshot of the email or text message
    • Website URL (if applicable)
  2. Report it to Nationwide using one of these trusted methods:

Our team will review your report and take appropriate action.

We take cybersecurity seriously and continuously invest in technologies and practices to help protect your information.

Our safeguards include:

  • Advanced security controls such as encryption, firewalls and continuous monitoring
  • Multifactor authentication (MFA) for an added layer of protection
  • Secure platforms designed to detect and stop suspicious activity
  • Ongoing training for employees and partners on phishing, social engineering and data protection

Even with these safeguards, your awareness makes a difference. Knowing what to look for and reporting anything suspicious helps keep your information secure.
